The young harlot was born into a rather large herd that was like any other. It had it's happy times and sometimes a few quarrels. She was the youngest of the leads heirs and one of the favorites, this didn't mean that she would be destined for the lead though. It meant quite the opposite. Espera was her fathers favorite because of her unfiltered tongue and innocent mind, but this made her sometimes vulnerable since her words could cause arguments.
Esperas brother Dante was going to be the head when the time came, the two were extremely close, but they were twins, one of of the few that had actually survived together in the womb. Their other half siblings were not as favorable by their fathers standards, they acted out on this and would constantly go after Espera, knowing she would usually never hurt a fly.
As time went on things began to change. A sickness fell upon the surrounding land. Others only began noticing when the insects were dropping rather quickly and out of no where. It was difficult to snatch up blades of green with out a large mouthful of rancid crawlers. The believe that is what started everything. The herd stopped eating, fearing further contamination. But there is a problem, you must eat. Many died from starvation, their fear of contamination running them into the ground. Then the signs changed, the horses couldn't take the hunger any longer and began feasting. They were now becoming rather deranged in their mind and running off the cliffs.
Dante, Esperas brother was one of the first jumpers to go and then her father, her siblings and then finally her mother....the others were more lucky. They would simply fall down dead with foam exploding from their orphvasises. Espera had nothing now and had to move on from her once well loved home to better pastures. Had she left uncontaminated...?
